India mounted a valiant comeback to win the next four Test matches against England, having lost the opening Test in Hyderabad by just 28 runs. According to ICC, the side has regained its top spot in the Test Team Rankings after victories in Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi, and now Dharamsala.
They have surpassed Australia thanks to their unwavering performance throughout the series. In the rankings table, the team currently has 122 rating points. England comes in third with 111 rating points, behind Australia in second position with 117.
Regardless matter the result of the second Test between Australia and New Zealand in Christchurch, India will continue to be ranked number one. Australia, the 2023 ICC World Test Championship victors, defeated New Zealand by 172 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series.
