PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, and HS Prannoy all won their first-round matches to move to the second round of the Malaysia Masters on Wednesday.
The two-time Olympic champion maintained her lead against the world number 33 Dane, whom the Indian had previously defeated four times.
Sindhu, ranked 13th in the world, will face Aya Ohori of Japan next.
Kidambi Srikanth defeated Toma Junior Popov of France 21-12 21-16 in the men’s singles. He will next face Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn, who is seeded ninth.
In the men’s singles, HS Prannoy stunned world number six Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei. He advanced to the pre-quarterfinals with a 16-21 21-14 21-13 win and will now face Shi Feng Li of China.
In the women’s singles tournament, qualifiers Ashmita Chaliha, Aakarshi Kashyap, and Malvika Bansod all suffered straight-game loses and were eliminated in the first round.
Ashmita was defeated 17-21 7-21 by fourth seed Yue Han of China, Aakarshi was defeated 17-21 12-21 by top seed Japanese Akane Yamaguchi, and Malvika was defeated 11-21 13-21 by second seed Zhi Yi Wang of China.
