Krishnappa Gowtham, an all-rounder, has revealed that if the Punjab Kings buy him in the IPL auction, he will not provide more than 100%.
Krishnappa Gowtham, an Indian all-rounder, made a surprising statement just before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 super auction, claiming that if he is selected by Punjab Kings (PBKS), he will be unable to give his all. Gowtham, who played for PBKS in 2020, expressed his definite opinion on the franchise with the largest budget coming into the auction. Gowtham stated that he did not enjoy playing for the Preity Zinta-owned Punjab Kings, potentially undermining the franchise’s reputation.
An off-spinner with the ability to make explosive runs lower down the order, Gowtham has been released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the mega auction.
“When I play for a team, I always give more than 100 percent on the field. I never keep anything back. But I wouldn’t give more than 100 percent to Punjab Kings if they pick me,” said Gowtham in an interview to Cricket.com.
In all honesty, Gowtham said that he would not want to play for the Punjab Kings once more.
“I’m simply being candid. Because I’ve never had a positive experience with them. There are more than simply cricket; there are other things. “As a cricket player, I wouldn’t want to be treated that way,” Gowtham stated in his shocking admission regarding the Punjab Kings.
Going into the major auction, Punjab Kings, who have only made it to the playoffs twice in 17 years and are perennial underachievers in the IPL, have a massive purse of INR 110.5 crore. Only two uncapped players, Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh, have been kept by them.Businessman Ness Wadia and actor Preity Zinta are the well-known co-owners of PBKS.
In IPL 2021, Gowtham joined Chennai Super Kings for an incredible Rs 9.25 cr after making a splash for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018 with 126 runs and 11 wickets. He has only appeared in 12 games for LSG in the last three seasons, though.
