Smriti Mandhana, vice-captain of India, is considering withdrawing from the Women’s Big Bash League to manage her workload and remain in peak condition for international duty.
Since February, when India played a bilateral series against New Zealand in preparation for the ODI World Cup, Mandhana has been travelling. The southpaw is now playing in the bilateral series against hosts England after returning to the UK after the Commonwealth Games last month.
Before the second T20, Mandhana said in a virtual media interaction, “I think more than the cerebral part, it’s about managing a little bit of physical part.” “I will undoubtedly consider quitting the WBBL because I want to give my all when I play international cricket and I don’t want to lose out on playing for India or have any aches and pains when I do. I will therefore undoubtedly consider participating in or withdrawing from the Big Bash.”
