The team lead by Harmanpreet Kaur has departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), site of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Under the guidance of seasoned skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian Women’s National Cricket Team has departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in order to compete in the much awaited ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. With great expectations for a good campaign, the Indian squad is ready to play their inaugural encounter against New Zealand.
The Women in Blue are hoping to end their run of close games and win their first-ever T20 World Cup, with the team playing well and their confidence level high. India has a history of losing big tournaments; at the most recent one, the 2023 edition in South Africa, they lost to eventual winners Australia in the semi-finals.While considering these previous setbacks, Harmanpreet Kaur was upbeat and emphasized that the team has been well-prepared this time.
“Pooja Vastrakar is doing great, and Renuka Singh is providing her with excellent support.” Renuka is a person who consistently provides us with breakthroughs. Arundhati [Reddy] is a reliable player who can bat in the deep and bowl a few overs for the team. Since every team has its own advantages and disadvantages, I am unable to compare our bowling lineup with those of other teams, but I have a great deal of confidence in my group. I am aware of their actions and their potential.”
“During the Asia Cup, we played really good cricket, if I talk about the entire tournament,” Harmanpreet told reporters. That particular day’s game was peculiar as it didn’t proceed as planned. We talked as a group about what we needed to do to strengthen our weaknesses from the camps and how we might do better the next time something similar happened.
Even though the Indian team lost to Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup final in July, they have been training hard at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The team hasn’t played competitive international cricket since then. In order to make sure that the players are in top form for the competition, fielding and fitness were major components of the training camp.
