On Wednesday, March 5, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the eighth encounter of the IPL 2023 at Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Rajasthan, last season’s runner-up, began their season with a commanding 72-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. While batting first, Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal all hit quick fifties to help the Royals to a 203/5 total. The Sunrisers were then reduced to 131/8 after Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets and Trent Boult got two crucial wickets.

Punjab Kings began their IPL 2023 campaign with a crucial home victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. Bhanuka Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka smashed 50 off 32 balls, and captain Shikhar Dhawan added 40 off 29 as the Kings posted a total of 191/5. The Knight Riders chased well and scored 146/7, but rain halted play and they fell seven runs short of the goal on the DLS method.

Arshdeep Singh delivered a match-winning spell of three wickets for 19 runs, but debutant Sam Curran struggled, taking one wicket and conceding runs at a rate of 12.7 per over. The availability of star pacer Kagiso Rabada will help Punjab’s bowling, but they enter this game as the second favorite, having lost four of their last five encounters with the Rajasthan Royals.
