Preview: The forthcoming match of the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) will pit the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Kolkata’s historic Eden Gardens on Sunday, April 14.
After winning their first three games of the season, the Shreyas Iyer-led team suffered their first loss in their final game against the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings. With a well-balanced roster, KKR is well-equipped to face LSG, particularly at home.
However, LSG presently occupies the fourth position in the points table. The KL Rahul-led team has managed to win three of the five games that have been played thus far. They had a batting collapse and fell by six wickets in their most recent match against the Delhi Capitals. The visitors will be hoping to test KKR at home in the forthcoming game.

Pitch Report: The Eden Gardens surface is renowned for being well-balanced and for supporting bowlers and hitters in equal measure. The surface is predicted to have seam movement and swing early in the game, which will benefit the fast bowlers. But as the game goes on, the pitch should becoming more bat-friendly, giving the hitters more chances to score runs. As it’s the first game of the season and the pitch might not be entirely conducive to spin bowling, spinners might also receive some help from the surface, though this could be limited.
