In the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings in Visakhapatnam, captain Rishabh Pant of the Capitals was fined Rs. 12 lakh for his slow over rate.On Sunday, the reigning champion CSK was defeated by the Delhi Capitals with ease, winning by 20 runs.
“During their IPL match against Chennai Super Kings, Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, was fined for his team’s slow over rate,” an IPL statement said.
The statement said, “Pant was fined Rs 12 lakhs as it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences.”
Before Pant delivered the last burst to post a tough mark with a gallant fifty, openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner gave the Capitals a booming start.
Despite MS Dhoni’s incredible 37 off 16 balls, not out, the reigning champions lost for the first time this season as the DC bowlers, particularly the pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, shook the CSK batting order.
It was the Delhi Capitals’ first victory of the season on Sunday.
