Is Every Seat In The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Worth $20,000? Lalit Modi blasts the ICC

The much-awaited match between India and Pakistan on June 9 in New York is rapidly approaching, with cricket enthusiasts worldwide eagerly awaiting the T20 World Cup 2024.

The political unrest that has prevented the two nations from playing a bilateral series for almost ten years has meant that cricket fans will always cherish their encounters in ICC competitions. Although excitement for the match is at an all-time high, former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has claimed that tickets for the match, which will take place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, are being sold for about $20,000 (roughly Rs 16.6 lakh). He has also criticized the International Cricket Council (ICC) for allegedly impeding the game’s promotion.

“I’m surprised to find that the ICC is selling Diamond Club tickets for the #indvspak WC game for $200,000 per seat. The World Cup in the United States is intended to promote game expansion and fan involvement, not to generate money from gate collections. Tickets cost $2750. “It’s just #notcricket #internationalcouncilofcrooks,” he wrote on X (previously Twitter).
Multiple claims have recently surfaced claiming that match tickets are being offered on the black market, and fans can purchase these tickets for significantly more than their official pricing on a number of websites.
However, the ICC has yet to issue an official response to the charges.

India will open their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a match against Ireland on June 5 before facing Pakistan in the most high-profile Group A fixture in New York on June 9.
