The decision follows the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) directive to players to give it their all in order to compete in the remaining domestic first-class season.

The Mumbai Cricket Association’s BKC ground will host Mumbai’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir starting on Thursday, and Rohit Sharma has been selected in the team’s 17-man roster. Ajinkya Rahane chaired Mumbai’s selection committee, which was led by Sanjay Patil, after the India captain confirmed that he would be available for the pivotal match.

In a match against Uttar Pradesh in November 2015, Rohit made his final appearance for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. The veteran player, who has been in a slump, faced the fast bowlers and spinners in a match simulation last week while training with the Mumbai club. He was paired with Rahane.

The decision follows the BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) directive to players to give it their all in order to compete in the remaining domestic first-class season.Rohit is anticipated to open the innings alongside the youthful player, Yashavi Jaiswal, as the middle order will be supported by Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, and Shivam Dube. The group also includes the incredibly seasoned Shardul Thakur.

Star cricket players were included in the team, so youthful opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi was left out. Patil, the chief selector for MCA, informed Sportstar that he wasn’t “dropped,” though. We were unable to accommodate Raghuvanshi because there was no slot available. “We decided to let Raghuvanshi play in the U-23 tournament and return (hopefully) for the next game because there were three contenders for the opening spot with Rohit, Yashasvi, and others available,” Patil stated. “Under my tenure, not a single youngster will be dropped without enough opportunities.”

However, the head selector was pleased to see the Indian cricket players attending Mumbai and thought it would only help the team.Mumbai has 22 points from five games, good for third place in Group A. With 27 points, Baroda is in first spot, and J&K is in second place with 23.

The defending champion, who has the best players in its ranks, will be seeking to take advantage of home advantage and continue to compete for a spot in the knockout stages.

Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ayush Mhatre, Shreyas Iyer, Siddhesh Lad, Shivam Dube, Hardik Tamore (WK), Akash Anand (WK), Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani, Himanshu Singh, Shardul Thakur, Mohit Awasthi, Sylvester Dsouza, Royston Dias, and Karsh Kothari are the members of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad.
