Cricket Australia (CA) has announced their 2024 Test team. Jasprit Bumrah, a fast bowler for the India National Cricket Team, has been named captain of the team, which only comprises two Indian players.Based on his performance in Tests, Cricket Australia picked Yashasvi Jaiswal as their opener. The India National Cricket Team hitter scored 1,478 runs at 54.74 in 15 games, including three hundreds and a best of 214. He finished the year as India’s top run-getter in Tests.Ben Duckett, the opener for England’s National Cricket Team, will join him at the top. The left-hander had another fantastic year with the bat, scoring 1,149 runs at 37.06 in 17 games, including two hundreds and his highest score of 153 in India.Joe Root, the leading Test run-getter in 2024, will bat at number three in Cricket Australia’s Test Team of the Year. He scored 1,556 runs at 55.57 in 17 games, adding to his six tons, the greatest of which was 262 in Pakistan. Aside from this, he took 11 wickets.
Rachin Ravindra, an all-rounder for the New Zealand National Cricket Team, is ranked fourth in Cricket Australia’s Test Team of the Year. The Kiwi batsman scored 984 runs at 42.78, including two centuries, one of which came in India as he helped his team sweep India at home.
Harry Brook and Kamindu Mendis, who have also been nominated for the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award, will form the team’s middle order. The English batsman scored 1,100 runs at 55.00, including four centuries, one of which was a triple century. On the other hand, the Sri Lankan batsman scored 1,049 runs at 74.92, including five hundreds.
Alex Carey has been appointed the team’s keeper-batter in recognition of his heroics with the bat and gloves. He scored 440 runs at 33.84, including three fifties, and he also took 46 wickets, 42 of which were catches and four of which were stumpings.
