Panchkula, 12th March 2025: After a 1-1 draw over four quarters, Hockey Jharkhand dethroned defending champions Hockey Haryana with a 4-3 shootout win in the final of the 15th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2025 in Panchkula, Haryana.
Haryana gained a penalty corner in the 42nd minute, which they converted with a superb strike by Rani through a sea of defenders. Jharkhand responded two minutes later with a field goal. Haryana’s defence failed, allowing Promodni to sneak a shot past the keeper.
Both teams came out fire in the last quarter. Rani received the ball inside the circle in the 51st minute and came inches away from scoring the winning goal.
Rajni Kerketta, Nirali Kujur, Binima Dhan, and Captain Alebla Rani Toppo all made successful shooting attempts. Pinki, Annu, and Manisha scored in the shootout for Haryana, but Anjali Bhinjia, Jharkhand’s goalie, made two important saves to secure the victory.Mizoram won the bronze medal in the third-place match by defeating Maharashtra 2-1. Devika Sen (6′) scored the first goal for Mizoram, but Maharashtra equalized through Ashwini Kolekar. Manju Chorsiya scored a field goal in the 59th minute, earning Mizoram a medal.
