Joe Root anticipates Harry Brook to get another “monster score” following a 300 in the Multan Test

Joe Root, the dynamic batsman for England, predicts that young Harry Brook will continue to produce “monster scores” after he scored a triple century against Pakistan in the Multan Test.

After his triple century against Pakistan in the Multan Test, England’s charismatic hitter Joe Root believes more “monster scores” will come from youthful batter Harry Brook’s bat. While Root made his presence known with a scorching 262-run knock on Day 4, he was overshadowed by Brook’s magnetic personality. Brook’s cool temperament during exhibition allowed him to pick up runs all around the field with ease. Root’s career-best of 262 on the fourth day was quickly forgotten as Brook celebrated his triple hundred. The 25-year-old’s ability to score runs was quickly overshadowed by exhaustion, as his magnificent knock came to an end on 317 of 322 deliveries. Root believes this was not Brook’s last outstanding performance.

“He has a really complete game. He can score anywhere on the wicket, and he plays seam, spin, and high pace proficiently. That’s a fairly nice way to score runs. I’m not surprised at all that he went on and did something amazing like that, but I don’t think it’ll be the last time we see him with a monster score after his name,” Root added.Root has now surpassed former England skipper Alastair Cook’s total to become the country’s highest Test run-getter. Root is hopeful, however, that Brook’s “complete game” and pedigree will help him catch up.

“I sincerely hope so. You want to build an environment and a team that is constantly evolving and getting better. You want the men who come in to play to believe that they can achieve incredible things… If future players shatter records, England will be in a good position, and they will be scoring a lot of runs, so hopefully that is the case,” he continued.

When Brook first played alongside Root for Yorkshire, he was eighteen years old. The seasoned English batter added, “I love playing with Brooky,” as he expressed his enthusiasm to play with Brook. He and I batted together a lot at Yorkshire, and it’s been amazing to watch him slot in so well with this side during Test cricket. It’s extremely bizarre to have the chance to watch him go and hammer 300 while standing on the other end, and it’s nice to be able to take home a significant portion of the partnership and score as well.”

The partnership of 454 runs that broke multiple records put Pakistan’s back against the wall. While they awaited England’s next move, Pakistan’s heads lowered and their confidence plummeted.

After declaring on 823/7, Pakistan was set to bat in the last session by England. Pakistan scored 152/6 at the close of the day, although they were still down by 115 runs.
