Kane Williamson struck a spectacular knock during his team’s tri-series match against South Africa, scoring his 14th ODI century. With his incredible record in ODI cricket, Williamson has surpassed players like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

The former Kiwi captain has made history by being the second-fastest hitter in New Zealand history to reach 7000 ODI runs. Williamson required 132 runs to surpass the 7000 mark, having amassed 6868 runs in 158 innings prior to the match against the Proteas.When just one run was needed to win, he accomplished the trick by hitting Senuran Muthusamy with a winning four.

Notably, Williamson is now the second-fastest player to amass 7000 ODI runs, surpassing players like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. He reached the milestone in 159 innings, but Tendulkar and Kohli required 161 and 189 innings, respectively, to reach 7000 runs in the format.

Having reached 7000 runs in just 150 innings, Hashim Amla stands atop the tree. Martin Guptill, who reached 7000 ODI runs in 186 games, was the previous New Zealand player to reach that milestone.
