After sharing a recent Instagram post, KL Rahul set off a massive chain of conjecture on social media.
Star Indian batter KL Rahul’s last Instagram image set off a massive chain of rumors on the social media platform. Rahul posted on Instagram, saying, “I have an announcement to make, stay tuned…” In response, some social media accounts conjectured that Rahul, who has lost his spot in India’s T20 squad, may announce his retirement from international cricket. Rahul appeared to have put an end to all the rumors, though, with his most recent Instagram post. In actuality, an auction was planned by Rahul and his spouse Athiya Shetty “to enrich the lives of many special children”.
Rahul and Athiya made Rs 1.93 crores at the auction by bidding on merchandise, including cricket bats and shirts of his current and former teammates.
At Rs 40 lakh, Virat Kohli’s jersey sold for the highest price at the auction. The second most costly purchase, valued at Rs 28 lakh, was, in fact, a set of Kohli’s gloves.
Three batsmen—Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, and current captain of India Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid—account for Rs 24 lakh, Rs 13 lakh, and Rs 11 lakh raised, respectively.
Rahul was not included in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Following the announcement of retirement by veterans such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja, fans were worried that Rahul would follow suit. There has also been a lot of discussion among fans and experts regarding the wicket-keeper batter’s future as captain of his Indian Premier League side Lucknow Super. Many believe that the franchise may decide to offload Rahul and search for a new captaincy face in the upcoming mega auction. Is Rahul going to make an announcement regarding his IPL future?
After being selected for the India ‘A’ Squad, Rahul will next be seen competing in the Duleep Trophy. Alongside Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan, he will be performing under Shubman Gill’s direction.
Dhruv Jurel and Rishabh Pant are fierce rivals for the wicket-batter’s berth in the Indian squad. Rahul may still be included in the playing XI as a non-keeper, even though Pant is probably going to be assigned to the wicket-keeper position.
