The state squad for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy just cut Prithvi Shaw.
In response to the recent exclusion of star batsman Prithvi Shaw from the state squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, former India selector Jatin Paranjape has taken aim at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). According to a report by the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), Shaw’s poor fitness, lack of discipline, and attitude difficulties often caused MCA to “hide” him on the field. An MCA source was also cited in the paper, stating that Shaw frequently skipped training sessions after arriving at the team hotel at “six in the morning” and hanging around all night. Shaw was said to as “his own enemy” by the source.Paranjape, however, has expressed sympathy for Shaw and stated that the MCA has no plans to assist the player, who may be searching for a new team starting in the upcoming season. Additionally, the MCA source was criticized by Paranjape for sharing such “loose comments”
“It is quite regrettable that sources within the MCA have made such slack remarks. It appears that they have no desire to assist Shaw. This season will undoubtedly be his final one playing for Mumbai,” Paranjape commented on X in response to a post.
Shaw made his Test debut in a home series against the West Indies in 2018 at the age of 18, sparking a lot of excitement.
After that thrilling debut, he scored his only century in the format. Since then, he has only played in four more Test matches, the most recent of which was against Australia four years ago.
Since 2021, he has not played any white-ball cricket for India, and his ODI and T20 International careers have also not taken off. For a guy who was hailed as the next big thing in Indian cricket only a few years ago, these are rather disappointing numbers.Several game legends have responded to Shaw’s current difficulties.
