Liam Livingstone, an all-rounder for the PBKS, left the ongoing IPL on Monday to return to England for a knee rehabilitation in preparation for the T20 World Cup the following month.

Liam Livingstone, an all-rounder for the Punjab Kings, returned to England from the ongoing IPL on Monday to rest his knee before the T20 World Cup next month. The Kings have already been ousted from the IPL with only four wins in 12 matches, and they are currently at the bottom of the standings with eight points. “IPL done for another year, had to get my knee sorted for the upcoming World Cup,” Livingstone posted on Instagram.

“I want to thank the Punjab Kings supporters one more for their unwavering love and support. As always, I had a great time playing in the IPL, but it was a disappointing season for both the club and me individually,” he continued.

Livingstone won’t be available for PBKS’ final two tournament games against Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 19) and Rajasthan Royals (May 15).

The England management, according to news sources, chose to give him more time to get treated before their home T20I series against Pakistan, which begins on May 22, even if the injury is not serious.

Following that series, the reigning champions will go to the West Indies to play in the T20 World Cup. They will first play Scotland at Bridgetown, Barbados, on June 4.

Livingstone had a poor IPL season, taking just three wickets and amassing 111 runs from seven matches.

Moeen Ali (CSK), Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow (PBKS), Jos Buttler (RR), Will Jacks, Reece Topley (RCB), and Phil Salt (KKR) are among the other England players in the IPL who are a member of their World Cup team; they will be staying at home this coming weekend.
