Lionel Messi, the World Cup winner in December, joined Barcelona as a 13-year-old and has since become a club legend.
Jorge Messi, Lionel Messi’s father and representative, stated on Thursday that his son is unlikely to return to Barcelona. After the Catalan club were unable to renew his contract due to La Liga’s financial fair play rules, the 35-year-old signed for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021. “I don’t think so, the conditions aren’t right,” Jorge Messi said to reporters at Barcelona Airport.
He said he had not spoken to Barcelona president Joan Laporta about a deal and that Messi “has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain”.
Messi’s contract with PSG is set to expire in the summer, and he has yet to agree to new terms.
“Life takes many turns,” Jorge Messi said when asked if he wanted to see his son play for Barcelona again.
