Due to his inability to recuperate from a viral fever, Litton has been ruled out from the 2023 Asia Cup. He skipped Bangladesh’s opening game in Sri Lanka.
As the renowned wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has been ruled out for the entire Asia Cup 2023, Bangladesh was dealt a big blow on the first day of the competition.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced in an official announcement that 30-year-old fellow right-hander Anamul Haque Bijoy will take Litton’s spot.
Anamul Haque has played 44 ODIs and amassed 1254 runs, including three hundreds. He last played for Bangladesh in an ODI against India in December of last year. Later on Wednesday, he is scheduled to go to Sri Lanka to join the Bangladesh team.
When asked about replacing Das with a like-to-like replacement, National Selection Panel Chairman Minhajul Abedin said, “He (Anamul) has been among the runs in local cricket, and we have continued to follow him in the Bangladesh Tigers camp. He was always taken into account by us.
The BCB stated, “In Litton’s absence, we needed a top-order batter who could keep wicket and Anamul got the nod.”
On Thursday at Pallekele, Kandy, Bangladesh will open its Asia Cup campaign against co-hosts Sri Lanka.
