The Indian women’s team has been accused of “lying” about having warned Charlie Dean before Deepti Sharma ran her out at the non-end striker’s in the final ODI, according to England captain Heather Knight, who is now recovering from hip surgery.
By running out Dean (47), the final England batter, for backing up too much at the non-end, striker’s India defeated England on Saturday.
Dean was outside of her territory when Deepti merely held the ball to remove the bails, shocking the English team and starting a heated discussion about the “spirit of the game.”
After arriving home, Deepti revealed on Monday that Charlie Dean had received numerous warnings against backing up before she actually executed the run out. In contrast, Knight refuted Deepti’s assertions in a string of tweets.
