Ipoh will host the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup from November 22–29.
Due to the Johar Hockey Association’s failure to pay USD 10,349 in dues, the Malaysian Hockey Federation has not invited Pakistan to the biennial Azlan Shah Cup. “The Johar Association has sent a stern official letter to the PHF regarding the dues it needs to pay for the accommodation, travel, and other expenses of PHF officials and their families who went to Malaysia with the team in October 2023,” according to a source in the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).The PHF officials and their family traveled with the Pakistani squad to Malaysia to compete in the Johar Hockey Cup.
“The PHF executives, including the former president, were made well aware that they would be responsible for covering all of the team’s expenses, even though the organizers were supposed to cover the team’s stay and costs. According to the source, these officials also lodged at the same opulent hotel as the teams.
If the debt is not paid, the Johar Association has already brought the matter before the Malaysian Federation and threatened to take it all the way to the FIH.”The current PHF President and his team are in a fix because the federation is already cash strapped and they were not aware of these expenses by former PHF officials,” stated a source.
The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will take place in Ipoh from November 22 to 29.
