They took first place just minutes after another trio of Indian shooters had an outstanding performance to take silver in the women’s 50m rifle 3 position event.

Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan fired in unison to win the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event on Wednesday, as Indian shooters dominated proceedings at the Asian Games here. Manu, Esha, and Rhythm finished with a total of 1759 points to take the top spot on the podium and help the country win its fourth gold medal in the ongoing sporting spectacle. Manu also won qualification after finishing the last rapid-fire series with 98 points.

The Chinese took silver with a total score of 1756, while South Korean shooters finished third with a total score of 1742.

While Kaushik was unable to make the final, Samra shot 100 in two sets for a total of 397 after kneeling and prone positions.

Samra and Chouksey performed admirably in all three series, particularly in the standing component, to place in the top eight and qualify for the individual final.

“I’m happy for my teammates and that we got a silver in the team competition,” Kaushik stated after the tournament. Right now, I’m simply focused on the good.

“At the very least, I have a medal to show for it.” I’m relieved that I won’t be returning empty-handed. I’m proud of my country, my players, my staff, and everyone that works with us.” “Both,” she answered when asked if her tears after her competition were joyous or sad. I’m proud of my team and my country, but I need to improve myself. There are conflicting emotions, but I’m focused on the positives for the time being.” Manu (590) won the qualification round in the women’s 25m pistol, while Esha (586) finished sixth. Rhythm (583) finished seventh, but because each country is only permitted two shooters in the final, she did not make the cut.

Manu, in particular, was on top of her game, shooting nine tens and one nine to finish with a total of 99 and retain her qualification stranglehold. To underline her resolve, the Youth Olympic and Commonwealth Games champion started with a magnificent 99/100 in her first rapid set.
