Defending champions Australia kick up their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign with a victory on Thursday against Oman.
In a Group B match on Thursday in Barbados, Australia defeated Oman by 39 runs thanks to a strong all-around performance from Marcus Stoinis.
When Australia was asked to bat first, they were struggling at 50/3. Australia was saved by Stoinis, who scored an incredible 67 off just 36 balls to lead them to 164/5 after 20 overs. After that, Stoinis and David Warner combined for a century stand, with both players surpassing fifty years of age.
Mitchell Marsh’s men had enough for the evening thanks to a combined bowling effort that included a three-wicket haul from Stoinis. The run-chase never really got going for Oman.In addition to being the first team to win the World Test Championship, the 50-over World Cup, and the T20 World Cup all at the same time, Australia will be looking for a third major title in a single year.
