In the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Delhi Capitals defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore by a margin of 25 runs to take the top spot. Shafali Verma’s half-century, Alice Capsey’s scorching innings, and the all-around efforts of Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen propelled DC. After the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first, DC became the only other team in the WPL 2024 to win batting first, following RCB.Shafali Verma and Alice Capsey, whose second-wicket partnership of 82 from 43 balls helped last year’s runners-up set up a formidable total of 194/5 in their 20 overs, helped Delhi Capitals get off to a solid start despite losing captain Lanning (11) in the fifth over. After hammering home a game-winning 64 not out against UP Warriorz earlier this week, Verma reached his second consecutive half-century.
