Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopanna Set up a clash between Karen Khachanov and Andrei Rublev in the Madrid Open final

The seventh-seeded Indo-Australian duo claimed four of the seven return points in the tie breaker here on Thursday.

Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden rallied from a set down to defeat Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin to advance to the men’s doubles final of the Madrid Open. Bopanna, 43, and Ebden, 35, beat eighth seeds Gonzalez and Roger-Vasselin 5-7 7-6(3) 10-4 to go to their second ATP Masters 1000 final of the season.

The seventh-seeded Indo-Australian duo claimed four of the seven return points in the tie breaker here on Thursday.

In the final on Saturday, the two will face the unseeded Russian duo of Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev.

In the second semifinal, Khachanov and Rublev defeated the reigning French Open champions Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer 6-4 6-4.

In March, Bopanna and Ebden became the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champions when they won the BNP Paribas Open.

After winning the Qatar Open in February, the partnership has ascended to the top of the ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings and is now seeking for their third championship of the season.
