The MCC, the defenders of cricket’s rules, gave all-rounder Deepti Sharma’s run out of Charlotte Dean at the non-end, striker’s which resulted in India winning the third women’s ODI against England here, the thumbs-up on Sunday.
India was able to win because Charlotte Dean (47), the final batter for England, was controversially ruled to have been run out for backing up. The English team was astounded when Deepti merely held the ball to remove the bails while Dean was out of her territory.
Even though Deepti’s behaviour was entirely lawful, numerous England players expressed their displeasure with it.
