In 2025, Pat Cummins, who guided SRH to the championship game the previous season, will remain captain.
Washington Sundar, an all-rounder for India, will be up for auction during the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, which is expected to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next month. It is improbable that Sundar, who took 11 wickets in the just finished second Test match against New Zealand, will be kept by his team, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), ahead of the IPL 2025 major auction. The Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians have expressed interest in Sundar, according to a Times of India (TOI) article.
Sundar is eager to participate in the auction pool. He currently has a lot of attention from at least three teams: the Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians. Even though Sundar won’t be on Sunrisers Hyderabad’s retention list, the report asserted that SRH could use the RTM (Right to Match) card to keep him in the IPL auction. SRH reportedly wants to enter the auction with just three retentions, despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) permitting teams to keep up to six players.
Prior to the IPL 2025 auction, Heinrich Klaasen has been named SRH’s main retainer. According to reports, Klaasen would be the first player retained, receiving INR 23 crore, or roughly US$2.74 million. Additionally, the team has confirmed retention agreements for Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma at INR 14 crore (about US$1.67 million) and Australian all-rounder Pat Cummins, who captained SRH in 2024, at INR 18 crore (around US$2.14 million).
