Midfielder Vivek Sagar Prasad of the Indian men’s hockey team claims he was saddened after missing the Commonwealth Games final versus Australia due to a minor knee injury.
India accept a silver medal after losing to Australia 0-7 in the quadrennial competition’s final.
Vivek remarked in a Hockey India (HI) release, “I was disappointed to miss the Commonwealth Games final against Australia.
“For any player, reaching the championship round of a tournament of this stature is significant. It was sad for me to get injured after having played well in the tournament to go to the final.
“On that particular day, I really wanted to be there for my squad. However, this occurs in athletics. Therefore, the only thing left for us to do is to go on.
“It was only a small wound. I’ve been well-rested over the previous few weeks, so I’m excited to join my teammates in camp and start working on our preparations for the January 2023 Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup, which will be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
“I am certain that the team’s support staff will evaluate my progress once I am at camp and use that information to plan my workload.”
