Although going through a tough patch with the bat in Test cricket, a former speedster has questioned why Warner must choose when to retire.
Mitchell Johnson has escalated his verbal assault on his former teammates by disclosing the true reason why things got personal with David Warner and by hitting out at George Bailey, the chairman of selectors, once more for raising concerns about his mental state.
A few days ago, the former speedster questioned why Warner, who has been struggling with the bat in Test cricket, had to choose his retirement date in his column that appeared in the West Australian. Along with bringing up the ball-tampering issue, the former Australian speedster has also taken aim at Bailey for his actions, including keeping Warner in the Test team.
Johnson has disclosed the true motivation behind penning the piece. Around that time, Candice had claimed on The Back Page (a television program) that there weren’t any openers deserving of his position. I answered at that point on The Mitchell Johnson Cricket Show, which airs on Seven.
“And I tried calling Dave to talk to him about the message I received from him, which was very personal, as I’ve always been honest with the guys.”I wrote the piece, or at least a portion of it, because of that. Undoubtedly, it played a role.Several of the items he discussed in that address were Since Dave can talk about it if he wants to, I won’t say anything about it. To be honest, there were a few things in there that were just awful and really upsetting from what he stated. That served as a bit of a motivator.
Additionally, a little while with George. Following the report by Lance Morris regarding Morris’s rest during a Sheffield Shield game, he had messaged me. The statement seemed a little patronizing.
It was disappointing when you received things at strange hours of the morning.
Bailey stated, “I’ve been sent little snippets of it (the article)” in reaction to Johnson’s comments. I’m hoping all is OK with him.
Johnson is even more irritated by the response, labeling it as “disgusting.”
Johnson stated, “I find it quite disgusting that Bailey is basically downplaying my article and putting it on mental health by asking if I’m OK because I’ve had mental health issues.”
“I’m okay; I’m not upset or envious; I’m just writing something that I felt was necessary to write.
“It’s basically having a dig at someone’s mental health and saying that I must have something going on (and that) a mental health issue has made me say what I’ve said. That’s not the truth.
“That’s completely the opposite. I’m actually clear-minded.
It appears to be an attempt to minimize the queries I posed in that piece. George comes out as incredibly condescending and childish.
