Mitchell Starc, the star of the Australian cricket team, sold for a hefty sum on Tuesday during the IPL 2024 auction. The Kolkata Knight Riders paid Rs 24 crore for the quick bowler. Following a fierce bidding battle with the Gujarat Titans, the decision was made. He participated in Australia’s World Cup-winning team.
Starc has experience in the Indian Premier League, having previously played for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The quick bowler has taken 34 wickets in 27 IPL games thus far in his career. His economy rate of just over seven was what drew people’s attention.
“In a world where many leagues operate on a budget less than $25 million for the entire team, Starc’s bank account boasts historic numbers,” Irfan Pathan wrote on X about this most expensive acquisition of Mitchell Starc.
Starc, who has participated in 58 Twenty20 International matches for Australia, has also been a key member of that team. In T20Is, the left-arm fast has claimed 73 wickets at a very respectable economy rate. In T20I cricket, his average is little over 22, which is a respectable figure.
