Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins—Australia’s top fast bowling trio—have been included to the supplemental lists for the forthcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 14 season. The Sydney Thunder will once more have Test skipper Cummins on their auxiliary list, while the Sydney Sixers have signed Hazlewood and Starc under the league’s marquee extra player clause. Although the fast-bowling duo is unlikely to play due to their responsibilities during the Australian international season, the quicks will participate in off-field activities all summer long, when work permits.Josh and Mitch are both founding members of our team and have played for the Sixers for a long time, so any chance we get to interact with them during the season benefits both our team and our supporters. The Sixers general manager Rachael Haynes stated, “Having both of the guys involved in any way will always be a boost for our group. They have great relationships with Greg and the playing group.”
Although Starc hasn’t played for the Sixers since 2014, he did contribute to their championship victory during the first BBL season. In contrast, Hazlewood played for the Sixers, who won the BBL 09 championship.
Test captain Cummins, who won the BBL 5 championship with the Sydney Thunder, has signed with them once more. His final season in the league before his international responsibilities took over was from BBL 5 to BBL 9.
“I’m thrilled to have a voice and support the men during the season, even though my international responsibilities prevent me from being around as much as I’d like. Having a talent like Sam Billings return is amazing. We have a profound connection to Western Sydney because I played with him for the first time in Penrith. His addition to the team is fantastic. For us, it’s crucial to have Davey Warner committed for an entire season. The team’s balance is excellent, with numerous leaders stepping forward to support the gifted young players. Big Bash cricket is going to have an incredible season, and this team is starting to take shape. Cummins expressed his gratitude to the supporters, saying, “I’m excited to see you at a game this season.”If a player is anticipated to be unavailable for the Big Bash season at the start of the contractual period, clubs may sign them as marquee adds via the extra player list, which was established last season.
