Controversial Mohammad Amir, Pakistan’s left-arm bowler, has decided to come out of retirement to compete in the next T20 World Cup.
controversial Mohammad Amir, the left-arm bowler for Pakistan, has made the decision to come out of international retirement in order to be considered for selection for the June T20 World Cup in the Americas. Amir, who was temporarily imprisoned for his crime and suspended from cricket for five years between 2010 and 2015 due to allegations of spot-fixing, resigned from all international cricket in 2021. He has continued to play in T20 tournaments around the world, though, and the new PCB leadership, led by Mohsin Naqvi, has persuaded him to resign from his position as chairman.
Playing for Pakistan is still my goal! We occasionally have to reevaluate our choices since life takes us to these places. Few constructive conversations have occurred between me and the PCB, during which they kindly assured me that I was still required and could play for Pakistan,” Amir posted on ‘X’.
Expected to be called up for the national camp in Kakul, the left-arm speedster last appeared for Pakistan in a T20I in Manchester in August 2020.
“After conferring with my family and well-wishers, I therefore declare myself open to consideration for the forthcoming T20WC. I want to represent my country, which comes before my personal choices. My biggest dreams have always been and will always be to serve my country while wearing the green jersey.”
