For the IPL 2025 auction, Mohammed Shami has set a starting price of Rs 2 crore.
Mohammed Shami took exception at Sanjay Manjrekar’s mockery of his chances of attracting a high bid at the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. Manjrekar predicted that the pacer’s price tag will drop during the IPL auction, which infuriated Shami, who is still one of the most sought-after pacers in India. Although Manjrekar is certain that a number of clubs will go after Shami, he doesn’t believe the bowler will fetch more than INR 6.25 crore, which he did for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 auction.”There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami’s injury history — and this recent one took a significant amount of time to recover — there’s always a concern about a potential breakdown during the season,” Sanjay Manjrekar, director of Star Sports, said.
“If a team invests substantially and then loses him in the middle of the season, their options are restricted. This fear may result in a reduction in his price.”

Shami recently returned to competitive cricket after a lengthy injury-related absence. BCCI selectors were reportedly pleased to see his fitness improve. Shami, however, has not yet been transported to Australia.
Shami has reserved a base price of Rs 2 crore for the IPL 2025 auction. Gujarat Titans signed him in 2022 for Rs 6.25 crore.
According to news outlet PTI, Mohammed Shami’s international comeback could take place in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but only in the second part of the series. According to sources, the BCCI medical team and national selectors want Shami to play a few more tough games in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to see how his body holds up after numerous games, even if it is a white ball format tournament.
“The Bengal team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be selected tomorrow. If Shami does not participate in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, I believe he will be available for Bengal,” head coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla told news sources.
It is thought that the selection committee does not want to take any chances by rushing Shami after only one Ranji Trophy match and after completing a lengthy rehabilitation plan.
Shami, who had not played a competitive match in a year, was brilliant in his Bengal debut against Madhya Pradesh in Indore, taking seven wickets in his side’s first win of the season.
