Anwar Ali, India’s outstanding defender, has been suspended for four months by the AIFF.

Simi did not have tuberculosis, they told us there, but the six-week medicine course had to be completed. Not only were TB drugs given to him, but steroids were as well. He thereafter developed acute jaundice and a fever. In August, we transported him back to PGI, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. His health persisted in deteriorating, nevertheless, and the PGI physicians found that he was experiencing acute liver failure. They advised us to move Simi to Medanta, Gurugram, since there was a significant probability that he would go into a coma and that would prevent a transplant from being performed. We visited Medanta on September 3rd,” he remarked.

Anwar Ali will be subject to a four-month sports ban, and Delhi FC and East Bengal will be subject to two transfer window bans, beginning in January. The Players’ Statue Committee (PSC) of the AIFF ruled on Tuesday that Anwar Ali, Delhi FC, and East Bengal were all required to compensate Mohun Bagan with a sum of Rs 12.90 crores.
