MS Dhoni Pours His Heart During IPL Retirement Talks: “No Discount For Age”

In an honest conversation, MS Dhoni discussed his life since retiring from international cricket, raising questions among fans over whether or not he has played in his final IPL match.

There’s likely never been a player who can match what one of the game’s greatest legends, MS Dhoni, has provided to cricket. Even though the Indian Premier tournament (IPL) campaign of the Chennai Super Kings was cut short this time, Dhoni still managed to make an impression with his cameos in the Twenty20 tournament. If Dhoni’s appearance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru was his last game, he went out with a bang, smashing a 110-meter six before being removed for what may have been the last time in his career.

In spite of his advanced age, Dhoni performed admirably in his preparation for the challenges that the Indian Premier League presents to each player. Dhoni was honest in a talk about how hard he’s had to work to establish his health and perform well against younger players in the IPL.

“Not being able to play cricket all year round is the hardest thing for me. So, I have to be in shape. You’ll be up against young, fit guys who play international cricket once I get here. Being an older player does not make a professional athlete any easier. Being as fit as the other guy is a need for playing. That grace does not truly come with age.

Thus, dietary patterns, some exercise, and all of those things are present. Happily, social media is not a distraction for me, so there are fewer of them,” Dhoni remarked on the Dubai Eye 103.8 YouTube channel.

Dhoni left the Indian cricket team a while ago. The senior wicket-keeper batter’s career came to an end at the 2019 ODI World Cup; ever since, the Indian Premier League has been his only professional competition.

However, since then, the man who gave the sport his all on the field has had to keep himself occupied with other intense passions like farming, cars, and motorcycles.

“I wanted to spend a little more time with my family after I retired from playing cricket internationally. However, to maintain focus and be cognitively engaged at the same time—I enjoy farming, riding motorcycles, and I’ve just developed an interest in classic vehicles. These items help me to relax. When I’m stressed, I might go to the garage and spend a few hours there. When I return, I’ll be OK,” he stated.
