Ravindra Jadeja maintained composure and led CSK to a stunning victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL championship game.
Chennai Super Kings won their fifth IPL championship on Monday at the venerable Narendra Modi Stadium, continuing their unbeaten streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The game was a run feast, as Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya earlier at the toss said, and everyone contributed significantly with the bat. Ravindra Jadeja, though, maintained composure and led his team to a stunning victory in his own state.
Jadeja successfully connected a yorker by Mohit Sharma, sending the ball over long-on, with 10 needed off the final two balls. The entire stadium erupted in jubilant cheers as the all-rounder then guided a low fulltoss that was drifting down the leg past the short fine leg defender for a boundary.
Following Jadeja’s game-winning performance, the all-rounder and team captain MS Dhoni shared a memorable moment, and Chennai Super Kings posted a photo of it on social media.
The two CSK legends hugged one other, and MS even hoisted Jadeja to show their respect for one another. Along with the hug, Jadeja subsequently dedicated the victory to his captain, who many think may be about to announce his retirement in the near future.
“It feels incredible to win my fifth title in front of my own supporters. Since I’m from Gujarat, it’s a unique sensation. This group has been incredible. I’d want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the CSK supporters who came to show their support for us. They were waiting for the rain to cease till late at night. As he addressed the official broadcasters following the game, the all-rounder said, “I’d want to dedicate our victory to a particular member of the CSK team, MS Dhoni.
