In the Ranji Final, he broke the record held by Sachin Tendulkar, becoming the youngest player from Mumbai to score a century. Mumbai’s second-inning 418 against Vidarbha was built around Musheer’s 136 off 326 balls, which enabled the 41-time champions to set a massive 538-run goal.
Sachin Tendulkar returned to the Wankhede Stadium president’s box on Tuesday morning for the third day’s opening session of the Ranji Trophy final, four months after seeing Virat Kohli score his record 50th ODI hundred in the World Cup semifinal.
Tendulkar dropped to fourth on the list just after midday as 19-year-old Musheer Khan became the youngest player from Mumbai to get a hundred in a Ranji final. Musheer was delighted to have Tendulkar in the gallery to see him bat, even if Tendulkar gave him a standing ovation when he and Shreyas strolled back during the lunch break.
Indeed, roughly halfway through the opening session, Musheer acknowledged that he had realized Tendulkar was in the gallery. “I was completely unaware of Sachin Sir’s arrival. “I didn’t see Sachin Sir on the stadium screen until I was over 60,” he remarked.
