London, Nov 25 (PTI) Nathan Lyon, an Australian offspinner, has denied claims that “Bazball,” the aggressive style of cricket demonstrated by England’s Test team, has revolutionized the game.
Lyon, who is four wickets shy of 500 in Test cricket, says he didn’t witness ‘Bazball’ in the two Ashes matches he played in last year before being sidelined for the remaining three.
After England Test coach Brendon McCullum, nicknamed “Baz,” was appointed last year, the term “Bazball” was coined. “I’m 2-0 against Bazball, so I’m happy,” Lyon quipped on Channel 7’s Front Bar program. “If you ask me, it’s a load of s***.” The English want to maintain playing this kind of cricket. It’s now in the lexicon, which is quite remarkable.” Lyon has derided ‘Bazball’ before, and this time he defined aggression as the ability to move through gears during a Test match.
