Due to a breach of his contract with the Sharjah Warriors, Naveen-ul-Haq has been suspended. He participated in the tournament’s inaugural season earlier this year as a player for the team.

The International League T20 has imposed a 20-month ban on Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq pacer, citing a violation of contract. The right-arm bowler had competed for the Sharjah Warriors in the competition’s first year in 2023.

Naveen was given a retention notice by the team before the second season, but he declined to sign after taking 11 wickets at an average of 24.36 in nine games. In an effort to address the problem, the Sharjah Warriors went up against the ILT20.

Although it did not turn out as planned, the competition’s authorities made an attempt to find a solution by designating an impartial third-party mediator and starting a mediation procedure between the player and the team.

In the end, the two parties were heard individually by the three-person ILT20 disciplinary committee, which was made up of Emirates Cricket Board member Zayed Abbas, head of security and anti-corruption Col. Azam, and chief executive officer David White. Naveen will serve a 20-month penalty following their review of the available data and the player’s and the team’s claims.

“We do not take pride in making this announcement, but all parties are expected to comply with their contractual commitments and recognize that non-compliance can cause damage to the other party,” stated ILT20 CEO David White in a press release. Regretfully, Naveen-ul-Haq was forced to serve a 20-month ban by the league due to his noncompliance with his contractual duties with the Sharjah Warriors.”

The disciplinary proceedings against Naveen were handled transparently, and all parties were given the chance to prepare and deliver their views, the speaker continued.
