New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced on Thursday that fast bowler Trent Boult will play in the Chappell-Hadlee one-day international series against Australia along with Kane Williamson, who has recovered from his injury.
Williamson is fit for the Sept. 6-11 three-match series in Cairns after missing the final two games against the West Indies last week due to a quad ailment.
The 15-man squad also includes Boult, who was released from his central contract with NZC earlier this month at his own request so he could spend less time travelling and more time at home with his family.
Williamson stated that the match against Australia is “a wonderful rivalry we have, it’s usually a major occasion for the fans, and the team really look forward to it.”
“Being a part of another chapter is quite special because you grow up watching the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series and remembering the epic matches.
We are excited for the challenge because we are aware of how difficult it will be to defeat Australia in their own circumstances.
