On November 28 and December 6, respectively, at Hagley Oval in Christchurch and the Basin Reserve in Wellington, the first two of the three World Test Championship matches will take place back-to-back.
On Tuesday, New Zealand Cricket announced that Christchurch, Wellington, and Hamilton will host matches during England’s three-Test tour later this year.
The two opening games of the three World Test Championship matches will take place back-to-back on November 28 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch and on December 6 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
Beginning on December 14, Hamilton’s Seddon Park will host the third and final Test.
Both of New Zealand’s most recent home Test matches against Australia had capacity audiences for the first three days, and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is hoping that the five-day matches against England will draw just as many spectators.
“The popularity of Test cricket has historically generated a lot of discussion in New Zealand, but it hasn’t translated into increased ticket sales,” NZC CEO Scott Weenink said.
The distinction from the previous summer is that record viewership is being attracted by the interest being turned into bums on seats for the upcoming Tests against England.
“That is something we hope to continue.”
