“It’s Tough To Face 150 KPH Bowlers Once A Year”

England chased Oman’s score of 47 all out in 3.1 overs.Aqib Ilyas, the captain of Oman, claimed that his team did not bat effectively against England at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. In the T20 World Cup 2024 match, Oman lost to England by eight wickets. Aqib stated that the top order failed to score runs during the T20 World Cup 2024 in remarks made after the game. He also said that when batters encountered bowlers who were bowling at 150, they had trouble. “With the bat, we weren’t too successful. During the entire tournament, the top order was unable to score runs. Though there wasn’t much we could do, it was still a fantastic exposure. The bowlers had little chance since there were no runs on the board. In association cricket, we are used to playing bowlers who bowl between 130 and 140 kph. Therefore, it’s challenging when you play against bowlers who bowl 150 once a year because you have something on your mind. When you’re used to playing against such bowlers, it’s something different,” Aqib remarked.

He went on to say that because England had not scored runs in their previous few games, the batters were under pressure going into their match against them. The captain of Oman stated that the bowlers could not be held responsible for the defeat.

Because they hadn’t scored any runs in the previous several games, the batters were also under pressure. Sadly, they bowled in good places and made poor shot selection. You cannot hold the bowlers accountable for anything because they were the ones who performed exceptionally well throughout the competition. Would have loved to end on a high note,” he continued.

Recalling the game, England chose to send Oman to bat first after winning the toss. Opening for Oman, Pratik Athavale (5 runs from 3 balls, 1 four) and Kashyap Prajapati (9 runs from 16 balls, 1 six) could only put up a six-run partnership as Jofra Archer, the outstanding pacer, pulled Athavale from the crease, creating the first breakthrough of the match.

The lone star batsman was Shoaib Khan (11 runs from 23 balls, 1 four), who led his side in runs scored and drove Oman to 47 runs in the opening inning. By the 14th over, the Three Lions bowlers had put a stop to Oman’s inning.

After taking four wickets and conceding 11 runs at an economy rate of 2.80 in his four-over performance, Adil Rashid spearheaded England’s bowling attack.

The England openers were under no pressure to chase and gave a fantastic display at the crease. In the first over of the contest, Bilal Khan removed Philip Salt in the third ball, giving Jos Buttler (24* runs from 8 balls, 4 fours and 1 six) and Philip Salt (12 runs from 3 balls, 2 sixes) a 12-run partnership.

Buttler and Jonny Bairstow (8* runs from 2 balls, 2 fours) both maintained their perfect records at the crease to aid the Three Lions in victory. During the run chase, England’s hitters were outstanding, as they took the game to four overs. The only Oman players to take wickets during the match were Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah.
