His comments come only hours after Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley insisted that the board simply wanted to play cricket and was not boycotting Australia Day.
Speaking with reporters, Cummins pointed out that during the last four to five years, California has observed Australia Day in a very regular manner. The Australian skipper said that although he honors the day and the feelings associated with it, a more fitting date has to be chosen to commemorate the event.
