At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games closing ceremony, pistol shooter Manu Bhaker and hockey goalie PR Sreejesh will jointly carry the flag, according to an announcement made by IOA on Friday.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday declared that pistol shooter Manu Bhaker and hockey goal Keeper PR Sreejesh would share the flagbearer duties during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games’ closing ceremony. Sreejesh was a sentimental and well-liked pick among the IOA leadership, including the Chef de Mission Gagan Narang and the whole Indian delegation, according to IOA president PT Usha. “Sreejesh has served Indian hockey in particular and Indian sport in general admirably through more than two decades,” she commented.

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won silver on Thursday to clinch his second consecutive Olympic Games medal, was spoken to by PT Usha.

“I spoke with Neeraj Chopra and appreciate the spontaneity and grace with which he agreed that Sreejesh should be the flagbearer at the closing ceremony,” she stated.

He said, ‘Ma’am, I would have suggested Sree bhai’s name even if you hadn’t asked.'” It demonstrates how much Neeraj values Sreejesh and his contributions to Indian sports,” the speaker continued.

Manu Bhaker, who became the first athlete to win multiple medals in an Olympic Games since India’s independence, was already nominated by IOA as the female bearer.
In both the women’s 10m air pistol competition and the mixed 10m air pistol team (with Sarabjot Singh), Manu took home bronze medals.
