When the Delhi Capitals face the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday in the opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, they will be without one of their most important players due to Rishabh Pant’s absence.

Rishabh Pant has been sidelined for a considerable amount of time due to a terrible mishap that occurred in December 2022. Pant, 25, remarkably survived after his Mercedes car collided with a divider and caught fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway as he was travelling to his hometown of Roorkee in the early hours of December 30, 2022. The renowned Indian wicketkeeper-batsman has begun his rehabilitation process, and he recently posted footage of himself walking once more. When the Delhi Capitals face the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday in the opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, they will be without a key member due to his absence.

On Wednesday, Pant said in a promotional video that has been making the rounds on social media, “If everyone is participating, why not me? I’m still playing, master! I’m arriving to perform. Although it is a commercial for a food delivery service, it has the internet talking.

“Food and cricket. I can’t exist without these two things. Recently, I haven’t been able to play any cricket. However, the doctor did advise me to consume healthfully. I therefore had a lot of wholesome cuisine at home because the cricket season was about to begin. At that point, I thought, “If everyone else is playing, why not me?” I’m still playing, master! In a video, Pant said, “I’m coming to perform.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the Delhi Capitals are likely to acquire Bengal’s Abishek Porel as a replacement for the injured wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Unofficial confirmation of Porel’s signing has yet to be made, but it comes after a week-long training session in New Delhi that included several practise games.

Porel and three other uncapped wicketkeepers, Sheldon Jackson, Luvnith Sisodia, and Vivek Singh, have been put through a series of match simulation drills over the past week in addition to being observed by the Capitals coaching staff, which is led by director of cricket Sourav Ganguly and head coach Ricky Ponting.
