Prior to the T20 World Cup next month, a seasoned hitter from Bangladesh is predicted to rediscover his swing.
Litton Das has been struggling to score runs lately, but Bangladeshi batsman Towhid Hridoy is not concerned and believes the seasoned opener will get back on track before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next month.
Das, 29, hasn’t scored more than 50 in his last ten Twenty20 International appearances for his country; he has only managed 36 runs from the first three games of Bangladesh’s current T20I series against Zimbabwe.
Bangladesh has not yet announced its 15-man team for the T20 World Cup, but Das is likely to be included among the first players due to his strong performance against white-ballers and the fact that he finished as their second-highest run scorer at the most recent competition in Australia in 2022.
Hridoy anticipates that Das will improve in the next two games Bangladesh plays against Zimbabwe and use that form, if selected, in the USA and the West Indies for the T20 World Cup next month.
Hridoy remarked, “Look, no one is willingly playing poorly.”
“Litton is attempting to give it his all, as are other high order hitters. Even a skilled player can have bad games. There have been a lot of discussions recently about Litton bhai’s strike rate, however upon checking, you will discover that he still ranks in the top three in Bangladesh.
You won’t do well in every game or series, even if you are the world’s greatest batter. I hope people who are not participating in runs will soon return to running. If he plays well in one game, he will recover, and in a major game, he could even be able to alter the outcome. Maintaining our faith is essential, and losing it won’t help.”
At the ninth T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies, Bangladesh was drawn into Group D. The Asian team’s first matchup is against Sri Lanka, and they will also play South Africa, the Netherlands, and Nepal as five teams compete for two spots in the Super 8s round of the competition.
Hridoy is happy with his team’s preparation for the competition next month and believes they will be well-prepared for it after their three-game series against the USA and their last two home games against Zimbabwe before the T20 World Cup kicks off.
Hridoy stated, “I believe the preparation is proceeding according to plan.”
