Prithvi Shaw arrived on the shores of England for the One-Day Cup with a big target in mind. Once considered the ‘next big thing, Shaw’s career growth has diminished in the last few months with injuries and off-field controversies taking the spotlight away. He had started his international career with a test century against the West Indies cricket team back in 2018, but right now his career seems to be going nowhere. On Wednesday, Shaw gave a glimpse of why he is still a force to reckon with.
As of Wednesday, With a 153-ball 244 for Northamptonshire in England’s One-Day Cup tournament against Somerset, Shaw became the first Indian to hit a double century in the contest. Now he is the only second Indian after Cheteshwar Pujara to register a 150-plus score in the tournament. Shaw reached the 100-run mark in 81 balls, while he reached the 200-run mark in 129 balls.
