The 16-person India ‘A’ squad was chosen on Wednesday, and Priyank Panchal of Gujarat was named captain for the three four-day matches against New Zealand ‘A’ that will begin later this month.
Along with Panchal, the roster also has players like Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Umran Malik, a 22-year-old pace star, is also listed on the roster.
The selection committee also took into account the performances of those players who did well throughout the domestic season, and players like Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan, Madhya Pradesh’s Rajat Patidar, and Bengal’s Abhimanyu Easwaran were named.
The team also has a few of uncapped players, including Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, a medium pacer, and youthful batter Tilak Varma.
The first and third red-ball matches will be played in Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy stadium, and the second game will be played at Hubli’s Rajnagar stadium.
