Sunil Gavaskar Makes a Remark About “Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli”
India’s bowlers came up big when it mattered most to limit Pakistan to just 113/7 in 20 overs, despite the fact that their batsmen could only muster 119.In a thrilling T20 World Cup match on Sunday, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team overcame a difficult situation to defeat Pakistan. Despite the bats managing just 119, the bowlers delivered when it mattered most, restricting Pakistan to just 113/7 in 20 overs. Bumrah was the standout performer, taking out Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Iftikhar Ahmed. Yet, Bumrah was not used from the start, as Arshdeep Singh bowled the first over, while Mohammed Siraj bowled the second.
After entering the game in the third over, Jasprit Bumrah had an immediate effect as he scalped Babar in his second over.
Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of India, said that Bumrah ought to have been employed from the beginning.
“Our hitters simply took big swings and were hit out. In the end, they were also out in the 19th over. That’s not a very good game of cricket. And those that bowled were the ones. In Indian cricket, bowlers are rarely given credit. Nice to have them around. Jasprit Bumrah, in my opinion, ought to have bowled in the first over rather than the third. Why Is It Wasted Having 12 Delivery? Gavaskar stated on Star Sports, “Give it to your best bowler.”
“Will you ask Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma to bat at number five or six? Your best hitters are those. They bat 1,2, then. The first over is bowled by the top player. It was his duty to bowl the opening over. In any case, India prevailed in the match by maintaining composure. I believe Pakistan has lost its nerve.”
With his versatility and special skill set, Jasprit Bumrah eliminates conditions from the equation. The great Anil Kumble believes that if India were to win the T20 World Cup, the lead pacer would need to be crucial.
“We saw that with that 15th over where he got that wicket (of Mohammad Rizwan), and then the 19th over, when you knew that in that over if he had given a couple of boundaries, then last over 10 runs, 12 runs, possible,” Kumble told ESPNCricinfo.
“On a surface like this, however, once it reaches the 18 or 19 run mark, it’s impossible for the tail-enders to come and get those runs. Jasprit Bumrah would therefore need to be very important if India were to win this event, according to Kumble.
