Rafael Nadal said Friday that he is “feeling good,” but that he does not expect to win any events in the near future as he recovers from a near-year-long injury hiatus.

After almost a year-long injury layoff, Rafael Nadal declared on Friday that he was “feeling good” but downplayed his chances of regaining titles soon. Following two rounds of hip surgery on the arduous road to recovery, the 37-year-old has not played since losing in the second round of the Australian Open this year. It caused some to worry that his career would be gone, but he will return to the court this Sunday at the Brisbane International, which is held in conjunction with the Australian Open in Melbourne.

“I am feeling good,” the Spaniard stated during a promotional event in the city. He has already hinted that this may be his last season.

“I have nothing to complain about. Although I feel considerably better now than I did a month ago, I find it impossible to concentrate about winning tournaments right now.

“Taking pleasure in your return to the court is a possibility.

Sincerely, he said, “I don’t expect much.” “The only thing that I expect is to be able to go on court, to feel myself competitive and to give my best.”

In an attempt to replicate the weather and temperature he will experience in Australia, the 22-time Grand Slam winner spent some time this month at his academy in Kuwait.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that it would be “a tough process in the beginning” and that his training was limited.

It’s not as though I’ve been practicing for the past six months at a high level of intensity. I’ve just been practicing at a really high level for the past month,” he remarked.

“There is no such thing as impossible. However, I consider my very being here to be a win, and I want to enjoy myself as well as the crowd.”

Former rival Novak Djokovic has surpassed Rafael Nadal on the all-time list of Grand Slam singles victories after the Serb won three this year in his absence to raise his total to a record 24. Nadal won the Australian Open twice, in 2009 and 2022.
